Date: 9th September 2006
Location: Recreation Ground, Bath
Time: 10.30 all day
After a hectic Friday night in the Hunstman, the Exiles men arrived far from ready on the Rec, already teeming with lacrosse players - the majority of whom looked in fitter fiddle than we did.
As per usual, the tournament was brilliant run and the weather was perfect, and as per usual, we had a crap draw!
vs. Heaton Mersey. Our first game against last year's winners. We were shabby and the majority of people hadn't actually passed a lacrosse ball in a year - let alone warmed up. Anyway, we were arse and lost 7 - 0.
vs. Carrol (heaton Mersey 2nds). If one HM team wasn't enough we were up against their youth team. They were very good as expected however we started to gel and gave an improved performance. We lost 2 - 1 (Timmy) in the end, but should have done better. However, we really won 2 - 0 as we broke two of their players (read about The Wall's karma experience during the mixed tournament).
vs. Hulmeans. Another bunch of northerners. They were very good but we performed very well and only lost 3 - 2 (timmy, Dickon). Two of their goals were scored during dubious refereeing conditions as the D had their backs turned and whistles were not blown.
vs. Poynton. Here we go again. We thought that we would get spanked - especially as hangovers had kicked into overdrive and people were losing motivation for playing and looking for more beer. In the end, we really frustrated them and lost 3 - 1 (Sharky).
vs. Spencer. Our one chance to play a team that we had a chance against however we were pants! Lost 3 - 1 (sharky)
vs. Wilmslow. We had lost motivation by this point and so capitualted. 5 - 0!
Anyway, it was a wicked day with huge crowds (thanks to the Leicester game) and we were ready for more Boundys in the Ale House.
